Welcome to the Washington County Utah ARES WebsiteWashington County Amateur Radio Service (WCARES) is the communications support arm of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL). As FCC licensed radio operators we train on the amateur radio bands and we volunteer our services if needed by government and private agencies. Along with the National Traffic System branch of the ARRL, which handles formal messaging for those agencies and the general public, ARES stands ready to support our served agencies by supporting communications systems in case those systems fail or become insufficient to handle the public’s needs.
The Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) is a nationally organized group of over 35,000 federally licensed amateur radio operators who have voluntarily registered their services and formed an organized pool of operators to provide reliable primary and secondary communications links for governmental agencies and/or non-profit organizations when needed. Local ARES groups participate under the "umbrella" of the national ARES organization which is administered as part of the American Radio Relay League, the National Organization for Amateur Radio. |
